What is blogging and how does it work? These past few years, the word blogging has become so popular that even those who dont have the talent for writing jumped at the bandwagon in order to be labeled as a blogger or to claim that he has a blog. Though originally blogging was intended to be a venue for people to express their sentiments and views (thats why it used to be dubbed as the authentic voice on the Internet), many have used this method for the purpose of making money too.
Otherwise known as web log, a blog (used as a noun and as a verb) is a website that gives Internet users a chance to express their views and opinions on a regular basis on a particular space on the web. The act of blogging enables people to tell their personal experiences, to update family and friends on their whereabouts, to make tirades on people they dont like or to assault politicians and celebrities. In the recent years though, it dawned on Internet marketers that a blog can actually be a great way to advertise the products and services of their clients. Thus, the authenticity of the Internet voice is being doubted. Some so called bloggers now come up with blogs to lick ass and not really express their true sentiments just to make money.
But how do you make money out of having a blog?
While some companies hire and pay a person to directly praise their products and services in a way that their blogs will appear like a testimonial, there are other ways to rake in the cash though a blog. Since a blog is one great way to increase your ranking in SEO (search engine optimization), a blog which is in the top ranks can offer:
1.Affiliate ads to companies. In the manner of how many companies engage in the modern way of advertising, a blogger can do the same thing by enticing the visitors of his blog to be linked to a website of a particular product or service. Having a banner ad on the page can also enable you make money. These two,however, can only be possible if you have a community of readers who truly trusts you.
2.Contextual Advertising. This is the easiest way to make money through your blog because the article that you write is scanned, products and services related to it suddenly pops up or is displayed. When your readers click on these ads, you instantly get some money.
3. Advertising space. You can directly sell to companies ad space in the form of banner or links. Again, its the clicking of the ads of your readers that will make you earn money here.
While I cant blame other bloggers for having a blog for the sole purpose of money, those who write blogs because they want to vent out their innermost sentiments or to give their two cents worth in issues still have my highest respect.
