4 Proven "On-Page" SEO Techniques You Need to Use NOW - Website Promotion - Online Promotion

So what are "SEO Techniques"...?

..may be your first question. If you've been trying to make money online for a while now then you'll be aware of SEO, or 'search engine optimization'.

There are 2 types of SEO: On-page and off-page. This article will discuss the on-page aspects.

On-Page SEO

When a new website appears on the internet, Google needs to determine it's quality, topic relevance etc. You may be aware that Google gets this information through it's 'spiders' or 'crawlers', which are programs designed to see how many of Google's quality control boxes the website ticks. The more boxes you tick, the higher Google will place you for your chosen keyword in the search rankings.

Be careful though, this is only half of the work you need to do: it's only when you have implemented a range of on and off-page SEO techniques that your website will truly begin to climb the rankings.

Let's go over some on-page SEO techniques you can implement into your sites right now.

1. Have an H1 tag containing your keyword

It's important that the spider picks up on your keyword as soon as possible when it begins to crawl your pages. One of the ways to ensure that is to have an H1, or heading1 tag containing your keyword. One of the ways Google discerns what your page is about is through reading your headings, as its the best and most quickest way to get a handle on what the content is about.

2. Have a good keyword density

Keyword density is measured in %, and is a measure of how often your keyword appears in the page. Another way Google determines what your page is about is through the density of your particular keyword. Having read that though, you may be tempted to load your page up with your keyword in every single sentence. Google's spiders will be able to tell, and will think your page is spammy, so don't do this. Around 1-3% keyword density is fine.

3. Have an ALT tag for an image set to your keyword

When you insert an image, the spiders can't "see" what's in it ( at least not yet). It thus reads the tags set to the image to figure out what it's about. For image optimization, set the ALT tag to your keyword. Easy =).

4. Have your keyword in the last sentence

Just another way to ensure that the Google spiders know exactly what your website is about. This is sometimes a bit tricky to do, as you have to make sure the sentence sounds natural so the spiders don't think it's 'spammy'. For example if your keyword is 'yamaha keyboards' and your page is a review page, simply end with a final sentence of "we hope you have enjoyed our review on Yamaha keyboards and seriously consider buying one" or something similar. It's that simple.

"On-page" SEO techniques are only the first step..!

So there you have. 4 quality techniques you can apply right now.
