Firstly I??m either going to annoy you here or relieve you?there are NO search engine optimization secrets! ?? Literally?there??s no magic button you can press to get top seo rankings! I wanted to make that clear first?
What you can do however is actually learn about SEO and start implementing some techniques that are proven to help you get higher rankings! These aren??t search engine optimization secrets, just simple techniques that have been proven to work!
It starts with doing the simple things first! So I??m going to list the key things you should be doing at first to help your rankings:
SEO Tip 1
Have you placed your main keyword phrase in your title? ?? Look at the very top of this page! I??ve placed my main keyword ??search engine optimization secrets?? at the very top! This makes it clear to Google which phrase I actually want to rank for!
This is a very simple thing yet loads of people actually forget to do this!
SEO Tip 2
Have you mentioned your main keyword phrase in the first paragraph? ?? It??s important that you try to mention your main keyword phrase in the first paragraph of your page. This helps to show Google again what you want to be ranked for!
Sometimes it??s not possible to do this because of the way websites are laid out, and you may have a lot of pictures etc?In which case you should make sure that you??ve at least changed the alt tag on the images to your main keyword phrase! ?? DO NOT stuff it full of keywords but placing your main keyword phrase inside it is fine!
Whenever possible though do mention the keyword phrase in the first paragraph!
SEO Tip 3
How do your permalinks look? ?? Okay I know some people will be trying to rank their home page of their websites, so this will be irrelevant, however if you??re trying to get your blog to rank higher in Google then this tip is essential!
My permalink looks like this:

Notice how clear it is! ?? I??ve placed my main keyword phrase after the.com. This again shows Google clearly which phrase I want to be ranked for! So many people forget to have their permalinks correctly setup and as a result they end up having very messy ones that are often full of numbers and equal signs!
SEO Tip 4
This is a vital one! ?? Have you actually performed any keyword research on the phrase you want to rank for?
It??s a vital one because a lot of people just do some guess work and thing that they??ll be able to rank okay for any phrase! This is wrong?if there??s loads of competition you won??t rank at all, well you might but you??ll have to be patient, build a lot of backlinks and it could potentially take months!
It??s essential that you do your keyword research first to get an idea of whether the keyword phrase you want to rank for is actually doable! It gives you an idea of whether it??ll be hard to rank, and what your competition is?

SEO Tip 5
Have patience! ?? A brand new blog / website will not instantly rank in the search engines! If you??ve done the basics right you??ll then have to be patient, you will be indexed for that term eventually even if you are on page 50!
The trick here is once you get that ranking you can then start to build backlinks to push your ranking higher! You can do this by placing articles on article directories and simply placing a link back to your website in the author box.
