Today we're going to learn about Keywords and how important they are when writing a blog. Keywords are what's going to generate MORE traffic to your site (if used correctly)! They are what Google, Bing and Yahoo look for when scanning blogs, sites, etc.
1. Google KeywordsGoogle Keywords is a tool that you are going to have to become familiar with. THIS is what will help you find and implement the right keywords for your blog. You can use this tool by searching "Google Adwords Keyword Tool". When creating a new blog, you need to have a keyword in mind, sort of like a theme that you're going to create you blog around. Once you've figured this out, you go to the Keyword Search Tool and enter your keyword in the "Word or Phrase" section (sometimes you will have to enter a code to verify that you are human and not a computer or bot) and the press Search.A list of similar keywords will generate. Now what YOU want to do is find the one that has the lowest competition BUT the highest hits! Not very difficult.2. Using KeywordsAs I've mentioned, each blog has to be focused around ONE keyword; which you will use in your blog Title. The body of the blog has to have sections for 2 reasons 1) It makes it easier for people to read/scan the article and 2) you are going to use any other keywords you've found on your main search (that have high hits and low competition) in your blog sections (or sub-sections).TIP: Try not to go overboard with using your keywords. It's called "keyword stuffing" and it can hurt your search ranking. Now that your in the midst of writing your blog with your keyword of choice, remember that Google smiles upon the use of internal and external links in keyword-rich pages. Linking back to your own site is a smart move; whether it's the main page or a related article, when it's possible, try and do this.3. Keywords As Image AttributesThe final thing I am going to talk about is using images in your blog. ALWAYS try and find an image for your blog, it makes it more personable and people generally like to see a picture that associates to what they're reading about. I like to use Google to search for those images. What I do is type in my keyword and choose "image search". Find the image th at speaks to you most and download it. Put it in your blog and use your BEST keyword as the image attribute, which is the "alternate text".You've just finished the most important part of blogging now, go have fun with what you want to write about and say!!Now what are you going to do with all this new traffic you've just generated?
